Thermal Performance
Hemp + lime mixtures have an R-value of 2.3–2.7 per inch, depending on application. While the number appears low, hemp’s thermal mass, moisture regulation, and low energy transfer create high overall comfort and performance.
Pest Resistent
Hemp + lime is pest and rodent resistant due to its high alkalinity and lack of nutritional value for insects and rodents. Its lime binder creates an environment that deters pests, while its dense structure provides no incentive for nesting or burrowing, making it a durable and natural barrier against infestations.
Fire REsistant
Hemp + lime has a two hour fire rating,meeting ASTM E119 standards. A hemp + lime wall system will never ignite, and a charring hemp + lime mixture generates a small amount of smoke with no toxic compounds from added chemicals
Sound Absorption
Hemp + lime insulation naturally dampens airborne and impact noise thanks to its dense yet porous structure, which disrupts and absorbs sound waves. Unlike synthetic materials, it provides long-lasting acoustic comfort while remaining breathable, non-toxic, and sustainable.
